BloxNote Custom ID Name: Known Effects and Unverified Setup

Custom ID names in BloxNote are a display-layer cosmetic: they change how your name or player card presents to other players, and no gameplay effect from them has been shown. For deeper ID-card mechanics like drops and recovery, those live outside this page.

Gameplay impact: what is confirmed

BloxNote's cosmetic system, including anything that alters how your name or player card appears, does not change mechanical values. As the BloxNote Wiki states: "Crucially, none of them change vision, task speed, kill ability or any other mechanical value, so the game stays a pure deduction contest." The developer "has not added any gameplay-affecting cosmetic since launch according to the official group page," so any claimed strategic advantage from a custom ID name is contradicted by the game's documented design.

Custom renames versus Shinigami Eyes

Custom renames exist but are not absolute identity cover. Shinigami Eyes — a Kira-side purchased ability, reported at roughly 15% of the task meter by community data (not an official figure) — "lets the holder see the real display name of every player in the server, removing the cover of any cosmetic rename." So a Kira with Eyes bypasses renames entirely, while a Kira without Eyes can still be misled by renamed players — something L-side players can exploit with decoys and shared name fragments.

Where customization options are expected

No custom ID-name toggle has been documented in the current build, but the Settings menu — where such an option would live — has been observed in play: it sits at the top of the screen after spawning, and (in the codes context) the codes box is found by scrolling to the bottom of it. After each update, check the Settings menu for a custom ID-name option, since BloxNote is in Early Access and settings, naming limits, or any pass/entitlement requirements could change. No pass price or purchase path for this feature has been confirmed.
