BloxNote Investigator Guide: Tasks, Alibis, and Working With L
How to play Investigator in BloxNote: fill the shared task meter, use tasks as an alibi, cooperate with L, vote with discipline, and read behavior to help find Kira.
Investigators in BloxNote complete tasks to fill the shared task meter while working alongside L to identify and vote out Kira. Community sources describe two routes to the Investigator-side win: the mechanical route (the task bar fills, which can end the round immediately) and the social route (narrowing down and ejecting Kira), with L existing to power the social route. If L is removed early, the highest-performing Investigator can take over the role.
How tasks fit the Investigator role
Tasks are your core mechanic. Every completed task adds progress to a single shared task meter, and the Investigator side wins as a team when the bar fills — not when any individual completes a personal checklist. Prioritize tasks you can finish safely; you never need to complete a dangerous task alone.
Tasks carry risk because they anchor you to a fixed point with your attention locked, which is exactly the situation Kira wants for an ID grab. Community tips:
- Do the dangerous, view-locking tasks first, while the lobby is still large.
- Work tasks in visible, high-traffic rooms so witnesses become your alibi.
- Call out task progress in meetings — a player who has been visibly completing tasks all round is dramatically harder to eject than one who has been drifting around the map.
What's confirmed in the task catalog
The developer has not published an official task list, and player testing currently confirms only two task mini-games:
| Task | Status |
|---|---|
| Upload interaction | Community-confirmed |
| Wires panel | Community-confirmed |
More tasks may exist or be added in updates, so recheck in-game after patches.
Working with L
Investigators and L share one side and one win condition, but their resources differ. Yours is time spent on tasks that raise the shared bar; L's is information, gathered privately and released selectively to steer the vote without exposing how much is known. In practice: keep the meter moving, and listen for L's private read in meetings before committing your vote. Because L can be eliminated and replaced through the successor mechanic, continued task progress keeps the Investigator side competitive even after L falls.
Meetings, alibis, and vote discipline
Meetings are where task work converts into deduction. Report only what you actually saw: who was near the last victim, who left a task early, who follows players instead of working the meter. Anchor your alibi to a named task with a witness, and keep it short and repeatable.
When there is no confident read, the skip vote is often correct — community consensus is that skipping is mathematically better than voting wrong, because a wrong vote hands the killer team an elimination. Avoid voting out fellow Investigators on a hunch: each body removes one task slot from the lobby and slows the task race.
Meter timing and behavioral reads
Two practical deduction skills round out the toolkit:
- Meter timing: The task meter is the Investigator side's only win condition that does not require ejecting anyone, so treat it as a parallel track to the vote. Community-reported strategy has disciplined teams pushing the meter to roughly 70%+ before committing to the final eject — treat that figure as an approximation, not a fixed rule.
- Behavioral reads: You can help identify the notebook holder without any special tool. Reported signals include players standing still with a UI open (either writing a name or doing a task), the short cast bar that ends in a kill feed entry, and the roughly three-second window between a confirmed write and the body drop — long enough to react if you're already in line of sight. Feed these reads into the next meeting.
Role counts and lobby context
Investigators are the most common role, the killer team gets exactly two slots, and Investigators can call meetings. Exact seat counts vary by lobby size: reports differ on whether Investigator seats are pooled alongside L's slot or whether Investigators are simply everyone outside the three rare roles (Kira, Kira Follower, L) on servers of up to thirteen players. Check your lobby's role reveal in-game for the current distribution.
